abstract = {This paper proposes a selective compression scheme to enhance the quality of regions of interest and to avoid wasting coding resources on irrelevant parts of satellite images. Two ROI coding methods have been integrated to the CCSDSIDC algorithm: the maxshift and the scaling methods. This paper motivates the choice of these methods and explains the modifications required to adapt the CCSDS-IDC algorithm. Finally results are given for the compression of Earth observation images on which clouds are considered irrelevant.}
